Analysis of stardust.

There is a soft voice over throughout the opening sequence, The fact it's and old man talking in old English shows us it is set in the older days even before we see and set or location. The fact there is a voice over shows its a bed time story set up and the film will be an adventure/fantasy film.
The map shows set and location and adventure.
Its introduces characters but leaves mystery and questions.

We are made aware of the fact that it is a fantasy / sci fi because of the diologue spoken by the narrator. For example he uses words such as "philosopher". Other such sayings as "150 and fifty years ago..." help to reinforce the fact that Stardust is a fairytale.

The characters are established early in. The lead male character is represented as a hero as he tries to save the damsel in distress, also the lead female character. This is the typical fairytale character set-up.
The village in which the humans live in is made with dull colours. Characters wear dull coloured, period outfits. This is opposed to the bright colours in the mystery world, beyond the wall.

7)Match on action shot
8)Midshot
9)close up
10)Over shoulder shot, To finish of scene of patient walking out.

Continuity task research

Establishing shot - Sets the scene and establishes location (hospital). We must show the viewer that we are at a hospital. The mise en scene will set the scene and also add to the establishing shot.

Close-up shot - a close up will show what is wrong with the patient.

Match on action shot/continuity editing - E.g someone throwing a ball and someone catching it.
We will have the doctor throwing something in the bin a shot from him throwing it, a shot from the bin 'catching it'

Reaction shot - this will help establish the emotions of the characters. For example a patient has been told they are severely ill, their reaction shot will show their reaction.

Long shot - this will also add to the location. By having a long shot of both characters in the scene, it will reinforce the fact that they are in a hospital.

After attempting to film the sequence, we discovered that we had been incorrectly using the camera. We then changed the topic of the preliminary task to more of a high school setting.
Due to the time limit we unfortunately did not have enough time to completely edit the piece.
We hope to improve on our preliminary task in our next attempt.

Cinnamon - preperation.

Image above - first sketch of Cinnamon!
The adventures of Cinnamon.
After discussing topics for our childrens film opening we decided to make an animated piece entitled cinnamon.
So far we have decided that Cinnamon will be a fairy - her home, a mystical forest with magical creatures.
Her location - Cinnamon will live in an enchanted mushroom in the magical forest. Other fairies also live in these mushrooms. They have lights and windows.
Other characters - trees!! The trees have personalities of their own - they can move and dance and have eyes too.

Plot - during the sequence we will be introduced to the forest, the fairies houses and of course Cinnamon the fairy!
