Our film is a U

U Universal – Suitable for all It is impossible to predict what might upset any particular child. But a ‘U’ film should be suitable for audiences aged four years and over. ‘U’ films should be set within a positive moral framework and should offer reassuring counterbalances to any violence, threat or horror. If a work is particularly suitable for a pre-school child to view alone, this will be indicated in the Consumer Advice.

Opening sequence prep work

4 to 7 year olds, girls.

-sound track, diegetic
-establishing narrative
-Title credits, actors cue roles
-genre characteristics
-voice over to clearly establish narrative
-colorful
-more image than text (clear easy to read and understand text)
- attractive

childrens film: a film aimed at a child audience needs to potentially contain adult friendly content, so adults can watch it with children.

Techniques:
-live action
-animation

Conventions:
-climax the story
-resolution
-clear objectives/ story
-fantastical characters
-some stereotypes e.g. good Vs. evil
-roll models
-morels (a morel in the story)
-journey (emotional, physical, metaphorical)

giving a hint of these in the opening sequence

Story Board.

The title of our children's film is Cinnamon, which is the name of the main character, Cinnamon the fairy.

Here are some images of the drawings for our animation. We have to draw one section for example the fairies legs loads of times only moving them slightly to give the effect of movement.
